My favorite Yogi is Berra….

by Jeff Miller

Here are two recent entries from the blog of Dr. Albert Mohler- President of So. Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville for your perusal.

The first is a piece he wrote about Christians and the practice of yoga. The second is about responses to that first piece and the corresponding podcast.

My purpose in posting them here is not so much about the content of the first article (whether Christians should/should not practice yoga- although Mohler’s points are salient), but rather about the state of American Evangelicalism as displayed by responses cited in the second post.

Both rather interesting pieces…

Yes, you only have to read the fluffy comments to see the point he's trying to make....Loving God with all your MIND is not optional.....and I think the mind is what's being left out, here. My own sad experience of several years of Transcendental Meditation made me aware that "emptying the mind" is a dangerous practice, indeed, and is not compatible with Biblical Christianity. God does tell us to "be still and know that I am God"...but the stillness is in the context of meditation on His words, not meaningless syllables.
